State Bank of Pakistan has again launched its SMS service (8877) for issuance of fresh currency notes on Eid ul Fitr to the public.
Around 1702 branches are designated for the fresh currency notes that anyone can avail by sending an SMS to 8877
How to Send SMS to 8877 for Fresh Currency Notes?
You can send an SMS to 8877 with your CNIC number and Branch ID. The total cost of the SMS is Rs 1.5 + tax.
Example: CNIC (Space) Branch ID to 8877
42201-XXXXXXX-X KHI123 to 8877
The fresh currency notes are only available through “e-branches” and the 16 field offices of SBP. The booking of the service shall commence on May 19, while issuance of fresh currency notes through mobile SMS service will start on May 20 and will continue till May 31.
SMS Cost for Fresh Currency Notes
The cost of each SMS for the fresh currency notes is 1.5 PKR + tax.
How Much Currency Can You Obtain?
You can only obtain 3 packets of Rs.10/- and 1 packet each of Rs. 50/- & Rs. 100/-. One packet includes 100 notes.
The service is available in 142 cities at this time.
Fresh Currency Notes Offer – Limited Time
It should be noted that the fresh currency notes offer for Eid ul Fitr 2019 is only available for a limited time period. Those who want to obtain currency notes should start sending message from May 19.
Two Day Window Only for Fresh Currency Notes
It should also be noted that the window for obtaining fresh currency notes after receiving the confirmation message from 8877 is for two days only. Let’s say you send the message on May 19, 2019 and receive confirmation the same day. You can only receive the money till May 21, 2019.
Note: The system shall provide the fresh currency for eid ul fitr 2019 on a first come first serve basis and new bookings will be closed once the system reaches its capacity.
