What is the procedure for obtaining a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) or a Good Conduct Certificate in the United Arab Emirates?

The procedure can be completed entirely online. The steps are outlined below.

A police clearance certificate (PCC) is a document that verifies your good behavior. It is eligible for applicants who are currently residing in the UAE as well as those who have moved out of the UAE.

So, what exactly is a PCC?

A Dubai Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), often known as a ‘Good Conduct Certificate,’ is a document that verifies a person’s criminal record, or lack thereof, in the state where he or she resides. The certificate is provided by police departments around the UAE and states that the person has never been charged with a crime or has no criminal history.

Applicants who are currently residing in the UAE or who are no longer residents in the UAE can apply for the PCC.

You can apply for the certificate online at moi.gov.ae or through the Ministry of Interior’s smartphone app MOI UAE, which is accessible on iTunes and Google Play. You can also go to one of the Ministry of Interior’s service centers and have the paperwork completed after filling out the application form and paying the required costs using electronic payment cards.

The service is available in Dubai via the Dubai Police website or the Dubai Police smart app. You may receive it at the Dubai Police Department’s offices too.

Following documents are required for Dubai Police Clearance Certificate (PCC):

  1. A valid Emirates ID card
  2. A recent passport-sized photo
  3. A photocopy of the applicant’s passport

Getting PCC for Ex-UAE or Former Residents

If you are no longer a UAE resident, you must obtain a fingerprint card from the country in which you are now residing and have it authenticated by the UAE Embassy in that country. A fingerprint card is an official report from the relevant police department that verifies a person’s identity using biometrics and decimal fingerprints. Then, you can submit your PCC request online to the Ministry of Interior’s UAE webpage or the Dubai Police Department.

If you are a former UAE resident, then you will need to provide the following documents to get the Police Verification Certificate in Dubai or UAE:

  • UAE embassy’s approved fingerprint card.
